Is an SD card or cloud better for a bird camera?
An SD or microSD card stores footage inside the camera or recorder. You manage capacity and backups, and a stolen or failed device can take the footage with it. Cloud storage can make clips available through an app away from home, but retention, quality and AI extras can depend on a service plan. Neither route is inherently best; the first question is what the exact camera actually supports.

Do not confuse live view with storage. A camera can show a live picture without recording it, or record to a card while remote access is unavailable. Read the model's recording modes, card limit, network requirements and plan details separately.

Tapo C320WS: local card with optional cloud
TP-Link's UK specification states local microSD recording up to 512GB for the current hardware version and an optional Tapo Care cloud service. It is an outdoor security camera, not a short-focus feeder module. Mount it at a distance where birds occupy a meaningful part of the frame, and check the card's compatibility and recording settings in the Tapo app. If you use it near wildlife, disable spotlight and siren features.
Green Feathers Wi-Fi: check the generation
Green Feathers' third-generation Wi-Fi camera lists on-board microSD recording up to 128GB. Our linked Amazon card is a specific Wi-Fi 10m kit, and Green Feathers has sold multiple generations. Check the product code and manual before assuming that its app, card limit or supported recording mode matches that current third-generation description. A bird-box camera must be installed while the box is empty.

A cloud postcard workflow is convenient if you want short visits on your phone. It is not a promise of independent continuous local recording. What should you check before buying a memory card?
Look for a stated SD or microSD slot, maximum supported capacity, required card speed or endurance class, whether the camera formats cards in the app, and what happens when the card fills. Continuous recording is different from motion clips. Some cameras encrypt their card, so you may need the app to view it rather than putting it into a laptop.

Privacy is part of the storage choice
Cloud storage means trusting the provider's account security and retention rules. Local card storage still needs a secure camera login and sensible field of view.
