Which Green Feathers bird-box camera is right for you?
Pick the route from the box to the screen, then choose the camera. Green Feathers sells simple analogue television kits, Wi-Fi app cameras and wired network cameras. A “wireless” picture does not necessarily mean cable-free power, and a PoE camera cannot be plugged straight into an old television AV socket. The three options below involve genuinely different installations.

700TVL wired kit: direct television, older video format
The 700TVL kit is sensible if your main goal is to turn on a television and see the box without relying on a cloud account. It brings video and low-voltage power through a combined cable. The 20-metre cable gives a planned route, not an excuse to leave connectors exposed outdoors.
Many modern TVs lack a composite AV input. Check the back of yours; an appropriate powered AV-to-HDMI converter may be needed. “700TVL” describes an analogue camera standard, not 700p HD. Recording or public streaming needs compatible capture hardware, not just a TV lead.
1080p Wi-Fi kit: phone viewing with a real power route
The checked Wi-Fi kit is more attractive if you want to look in from a phone or tablet. It still needs power and an outdoor Wi-Fi signal. Do not mistake its 10m kit description for a radio-range guarantee. Test the powered camera at the planned box position before fixing the box, especially through brick, metal or wet foliage.
Green Feathers has different camera generations and apps. Its current third-generation Wi-Fi product page lists microSD recording, dual-band Wi-Fi and the Green Feathers app, but do not automatically transfer those features to this older or differently bundled Amazon kit. Match the model label and manual first.
PoE kit: the strongest planned network connection
PoE carries power and network data over a suitable Ethernet cable. It is worthwhile when you can run that cable cleanly and already know how the camera will connect to a compatible switch, injector or recorder. It avoids garden Wi-Fi uncertainty, but it is not an analogue TV replacement. Confirm the exact PoE standard and equipment included with the kit.
Green Feathers documents an RTSP route for supported IP cameras. That may make a later computer-based livestream possible. It does not mean every camera generation can stream to every platform without setup.
Install before birds arrive
Build the entire system indoors first. Confirm power, focus, night view, recording and the final viewer. Fit the camera high inside a completely empty suitable nest box, route and protect cables, then complete outdoor checks before use. Our installation guide and timing guide cover the process.
Do not open or alter an occupied box to improve a picture. The GOV.UK filming guidance emphasises installing remote equipment when animals are away. Can the 700TVL camera connect directly to my phone?
Not by itself. It supplies analogue video and needs suitable capture and software to bring that signal to a computer or network.
Does Wi-Fi mean no cable at the box?
Usually not. This checked Wi-Fi kit has a power route; the wireless part is the network picture.
Can I add a microSD card to any Green Feathers camera?
No. Storage varies by exact generation and model. Confirm the product code and manual before buying a card.
